ASUS confirms once again to be extremely avant-garde, with an innovative hybrid solution presented at CES 2022. This is the new ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, a hybrid device equipped with a spectacular foldable OLED screen capable of providing all the power and the working convenience of a high-end notebook with the portability and convenience of a tablet.
The highlight of this device is the 17.3 “OLED display with a resolution of 2560x1920p which” folded “becomes a 12.5” with a 3:2 format (1920x1280p). It is a panel that also aims to offer the best possible visual experience, guaranteeing 100% DCI-P3 coverage, HDR support, Dolby Vision certifications and VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black. In the upper part of this display we have the 5 megapixel webcam, an infrared sensor for face recognition and an unprecedented Color Sensor that allows you to adjust the color temperature of the display based on what is the temperature of the ambient light.
Thanks to these special features, the new Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is able to work in six different modes, using among other things a virtual on-screen keyboard or the physical ASUS ErgoSense bluetooth keyboard. In practice, it can therefore be used in notebook mode with the virtual keyboard in the lower part of the screen and the information in the second half, or always with the same configuration but by placing the physical bluetooth keyboard supplied above the part of the screen that rests on the desk.
Alternatively, we can place the keyboard on the table and place the open notebook in front of us as if it were a large 17-inch monitor. By folding it slightly it becomes a sort of book, while placing it on the folded table we can use the whole display vertically and the physical keyboard externally.
The multimedia sector is also of the highest level and includes a QHD main camera, an HD IR camera for Windows Hello and a Harman Kardon audio system with four speakers, Dolby Atmos and noise cancellation technology with AI.
To achieve its high performance, Zenbook 17 Fold OLED relies on Intel Core i7 12th gen U series processors, with integrated Iris Xe graphics, 16GB of RAM, Thunderbolt 4 and state-of-the-art WiFi 6E connectivity. As for the allocation of ports, along the edges of the screen we find two USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 support and the audio jack.
