To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm, founded by George Lucas in 1971, LEGO announced the new UCS 75308 LEGO R2-D2 set featuring the iconic droid who accompanied us through the immense universe of Star Wars.
The new version of R2-D2 has been recreated pushing to the limit the possibilities that the LEGO bricks offer to insert so many details inside such as the retractable telescope, the removable mechanical arm and the infamous Luke Skywalker lightsaber kept in a secret compartment of the head.
This new replica made up of 2314, with the measures of 31 cm in height, 20 cm in width and 15 cm in depth, has several moving parts such as the retractable central leg and the rotating head. The set will also contain the exclusive droid minifigure as well as the 50th anniversary plaque of Lucasfilm to further embellish its display on the furniture of the house.
Aimed at adult builders (but not limited to) and particularly Star Wars fans, LEGO R2-D2 will be available from May 1st, just in time for the “May the 4th”, the Star Wars Day which is just celebrated on May 4th.
